Welcome to Diagonal Pass, where the women are knee-rattling gorgeous, and more fabulous still on the pitch. Find out what we’re all about here.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that goalkeepers are effing hot (to those who say nay, thou art dead wrong). And somewhat on the crazy side. But mostly with the hot. Who better, then, to kick off the proceedings but the awesome Hope Solo?

Unf, mama.

Solo is currently one of the world’s best female goalkeepers (the other being Germany’s Nadine Angerer), and starting goalkeeper for the US women’s team. She hasn’t had the best of times since the semi-final of the 2007 Women’s World Cup (see From A Left Wing for a fantastic overview and analysis), but has bounced back with style as the US won the gold medal for women’s football in the Olympics.

I feel a certain twinge of disloyalty for featuring someone from the US team first in this blog, but not enough that my brain didn’t go *sizzle* at the photo above. There was only one possible decision, really.

Enjoy the photos as much as I did — click for bigger versions.
